Confesses to assaulting police officers

A San Gwann man yesterday pleaded guilty to a number of charges including seriously injuring a police constable in the face at the Msida police station yesterday morning.

Carmel Pace, 38, was also charged with slightly injuring a police inspector and another constable and with assaulting, threatening and disobeying the police.

He was also charged with causing damage to the detriment of the government, uttering obscene words in public while drunk, breaching the peace and relapsing.

Pace pleaded guilty to the charges and Magistrate Michael Mallia put off the case for judgement.

Pace was granted bail against a Lm500 deposit.

Police Inspector Stephen Gatt prosecuted.

Dr Joseph Giglio appeared for Pace.
