Spanish police have dismantled an international drug-trafficking ring, arresting 19 people and seizing a haul of cocaine with a street value of €40 million ($48 million), police said yesterday.
Police confiscated 650 kg of Colombian cocaine from a sailing boat making its way from Venezuela to Spain's Canary Islands. They boarded the boat off the island of Gran Canaria on Thursday.
They arrested nine Colombians, nine Spaniards and one Austrian in three locations - Madrid, the nearby city of Toledo and in Tenerife, another of the Canary Islands. The ring had used a car dealership in Toledo to launder money, police said.
