A small fleet from the Royal Malta Yacht Club (RMYC) experienced a rather exciting weekend for the Shiseodo Summer Regatta with three neck-and-neck races in light wind conditions.
The initial coastal race had to be shortened by newcomer race officer Peter Dimech as the wind kept on dying down as the race matured.
Strait Dealer proved its power in this one but found the going rather tough in the next two races with 'X' just making it for a good win in the second and Primadonna picking a good third.
The next two races showed that short courses and light breezes can harm Strait Dealer's chances due to insufficient time to open a substantial gap to offset its high rating of 1.196.
The youngest crew in the fleet on board Mad Max proved worthy winners in the third one, beating one and all on corrected time.
Second-placed 'X' found themselves winners of this regatta after just beating Strait Dealer in the last one that mattered.
Participation was not only poor in yacht numbers but also crew-wise as most of the boats that participated were undermanned.
Final results
Winner: 'X', skipper Timi Camilleri.
Runner-up: Strait Dealer, Chris Dougall.
Third place: Mad Max, David Anastasi.
