The Sakharov Prize
To whom is the Sakharov Prize awarded?
The Sakharov Prize for freedom of thought was launched by the European Parliament in 1988. The prize is awarded to personalities who like the Soviet physicist, Andrei Sakharov have defended the fundamental freedoms and have fought against oppression and injustice.
