Residential roads in Marsascala
It was reported by Jesmond Mugliett that the government was working to improve the situation of residential roads which have a direct impact on inhabitants. As a resident of Triq l-Ghassies, Marsascala, I read this with great enthusiasm and anticipation.

As a resident of Triq l-Ghassies, Marsascala, I read this with great enthusiasm and anticipation. For many residents in this street and other surrounding roads, this is a ray of hope. I invite Mr Mugliett to visit our street and if he finds time in his busy schedule to judge for himself what impact the inhabitants have to endure.
But I must warn him that it is a very bumpy ride. I must also advise him not to wear anything dark since it will only end up white with the dust. The minister's driver will also have to wash the car after the visit, since this will also end up white.
Here is just an idea of what the residents have to endure, living in this area. Continuous asthma and skin allergy attacks by our children as a result of the dust. Damage to our cars. No essential services like gas cylinder delivery are available in our street, again because of the state of the roads.
Endless and futile cleaning of our homes is also forced upon us hour after hour as everything is repeatedly covered in fine dust. In winter one does not even dare to walk in the street because of the risk of getting stuck in the mud or, even worse, slipping and breaking a limb. In summer every Wednesday a water bowser comes to sprinkle water to settle the dust down. This is in vain as after an hour the water will be long dried up by the sun. Even the local council finds it a problem to deliver its newsletter as it has been months since one was delivered to our letterbox.
Apparently the local council is always in contact with the government as to when our roads will be made up but to date we are still waiting in dust and misery.
