I refer to the article by Shirley Spiteri (July 23) regarding the insensitive dog owner and I totally agree.
Why are people who are so insensitive, cowards and without character allowed to have dogs or pets? I believe that before one starts keeping a dog the consequences and the responsibilities of pet ownership should be checked.
Having a pet means responsibility. If you are not a responsible person do not get a pet. Very easy! Pets are not objects that one can just throw away if one gets tired of them. Pets have feelings and emotions just like we do! And the fact that this sick dog went around the promenade of Marsascala looking for its owner (even though the owner abandoned it!) proves that they are also faithful.
Nobody is obliging anybody to have a pet. I only wonder... when is the law going to do something about all this? Isn't this more important than just fining people for not putting on their seat belt?
