Sliema Wanderers yesterday presented their latest signings, namely Adrian Mifsud and Claude Mattocks.

Mifsud, 29, joins the Maltese champions after four seasons with Hibernians with whom he won a league title in season 2001-2002 while Mattocks, 24, was signed on a season-long deal from Old-Firm rivals Floriana.

"This is a new experience for me and I'm elated by the prospect of playing for Sliema next season," Mattocks said. "They have always been at the forefront of Maltese football and I hope the team remains in winning groove next season. My aim is to do well and establish myself in the team with a view to enhancing my chances of securing a permanent transfer."

Mifsud is also looking forward to live up to expectations at Sliema.

"I am joining the best club in Malta," Mifsud said.

"I have been handed the onus of filling the void left by Michael Mifsud and I will do my best to make my mark here. The prospect of winning more honours in the domestic game was the main factor behind my decision to sign for Sliema."

Robert Arrigo, the Sliema president, also confirmed yesterday that Sliema have been engaged in talks with Valletta over the transfer of former Malta defender Darren Debono.

The Sliema committee has been convened this weekend to discuss Debono's potential move to the champions.

Arrigo also said that he has a verbal agreement with Italian defender Mauro Di Lello over his move to the Wanderers next season after his transfer earlier this month hit a snag due to the MFA restrictions on clubs who have non-EU players on their books.

Massimo Grima and Stefano Grima will join Valletta from Sliema on loan for one season.

Reacting to reports linking Kevin Sammut with a move to Msida St Joseph, Arrigo said that Sliema have not received a transfer request from the player.

Commemorative Klaus Kobech watch

Sliema yesterday launched a wrist watch to commemorate the club's 100th cup milestone when they won the FA Trophy at the end of last season. The watch has been exclusively designed and manufactured by the renowned Klaus Kobech Limited.

The production of Sliema watches has been limited to 100 items, each selling at Lm25. Sliema fans and collectors of football memorabilia may place their order by phoning 21-241222.
