How is the European Ombudsman appointed?

The Ombudsman of the European Union is elected by the members of the European Parliament after each election of the same Parliament. The Ombudsman's term is for five years corresponding to the duration of the Parliament's legislature.

His/her headquarters is based in Strasbourg, inside the European Parliament's building.
