PN officials sue weekly for libel

Nationalist Party officials yesterday filed a libel suit against Maltatoday editor Saviour Balzan over an article entitled PN Leaked Dalli Story to MLP.

In the suit, Nationalist Party leader Lawrence Gonzi, deputy leader Tonio Borg, general secretary Joe Saliba and Victor Scerri, president of the PN council, claimed that the article, published on the front page of Maltatoday last Sunday, was libellous.

The suit was the second against Balzan this week. On Tuesday Saliba filed a suit over an article entitled Saint Joseph The Housekeeper published in the July 4 issue.

The writs were signed by Dr Joseph Zammit Maempel.
