Labour names Vella Euro affairs spokesman

Former deputy Labour Party leader George Vella will be taking on the role of party spokesman on European Affairs a post which was held by Evarist Bartolo.

The changing of roles was made by the MLP following the resignation by Karmenu Vella from the post of spokesman on tourism which will now be filled by Mr Bartolo.

Mr Vella has been appointed special consultant to Labour leader Alfred Sant. Dr Sant has commissioned Mr Vella to draw up a report on the prospects of Maltese investors in Central Europe and North Africa and on the measures the government can take to boost investment opportunities.

Chris Agius has been appointed MLP spokesman for industry and public investments, a post vacated by John Attard Montalto, who resigned from Parliament to assume his duties as an MEP.

Roderick Galdes has been appointed MLP spokesman for the environment and Maltese patrimony.
