An 18-year-old was yesterday jailed for 21 months and fined Lm600 after he admitted to trafficking in ecstasy and cannabis resin and to the possession of cocaine.

Jomic Calleja, of Sta Venera, pleaded guilty to trafficking and possessing the drugs on and before April 10.

On handing down judgement, Magistrate Lawrence Quintano noted that Calleja had filed a guilty plea and had cooperated with the police.

He noted that at the time Calleja was faced with problems but added that this did not give him a right to abuse of or start dealing in drugs.

Police Inspector Josric Mifsud prosecuted.
