Unemployment 'is the problem'

Labour leader Alfred Sant accused the government of fabricating problems, such as the pensions issue when, he said, the country's real problem was unemployment.

Dr Sant was addressing a social activity in San Gwann organised by the Forum Zghazagh Laburisti.

He said the government was not doing anything to launch projects that offered employment opportunities for Maltese and Gozitans.

He claimed that the proposed eco tax was just another means of taxing workers and the middle class. At the same time, he said, the government was spending Lm9 million on a Maltese embassy in Brussels.
