A group of 25 illegal immigrants, including eight women, was landed at Haywharf by an AFM patrol boat early yesterday.

The AFM said the migrants' boat was intercepted at 4.15 a.m. south of Malta. It was taking in water and the life of the passengers was in danger.

The migrants were taken on board the patrol boat and transferred to the AFM maritime squadron base where they were handed over to the police. They were later transferred to Safi Barracks detention centre.

The migrants, who claimed they were from Somalia, were in good health, the police said.
