Seahorse Diving Club and the Eden Foundation joined forces to organise the first underwater draughts marathon, which ends tonight at 9. Four teams of six players each are competing underwater playing draughts for 50 hours. During these hours people are encouraged to join in a scuba diving session for only Lm3.50, or just support these players.
Divers will be given full equipment and assistance by professional divers. Doctors will be in attendance to carry out medical checks before certifying all participants fit to dive. A big screen will be mounted at Marsascala centre and will show what is happening at the diving site. Eden Fm, the foundation's radio station, will broadcast live from the site.
During the last hour of this marathon a variety programme will take place presented by Romilda Zarb, a well known television presenter.
People can send donations by mobile: send a blank SMS to 5061-7301 for a Lm1 donation, 5061-7902 for a Lm2 donation or 5061-8803 for a Lm3 donation. All those sending their donation are eligible to win a weekend break for two at the Jerma Palace Hotel.
The marathon is taking place at the Seahorse diving Club, Marsascala (Behind Jerma Palace Hotel).
All the money collected during this activity will help the Eden Foundation raise funds to continue the work started 11 years ago to help children with mental disabilities.
