It was indeed unfortunate for the Irish tourist who suffered a broken leg when the pavement gave way as he was walking along the Sliema Strand.

Due to the disgraceful and dangerous state of the pavement in St Nicholas Street, Sliema, I experienced a similar trauma on June 5 when I broke my ankle on the subsided pavement and was rushed to hospital where I had my leg put in a plaster cast.

Although the cast has since been removed I am still being treated by a physiotherapist.

The injury has not completely healed and as a result of the fracture I have to walk with a limp, not to mention the pain I am suffering.

The bad state of the pavement, and of the road, has been brought to the local council's attention but so far no action has been taken.
