Two Sundays ago at Marsaxlokk a friend of mine found a stray blind, and painfully thin, black dog. She called one of the associations for stray dogs; she was very upset and in tears.

The man at the other end said he'll call to pick up the dog, but then he called her on her mobile to say he had no transport and if she could get the dog there herself.

My friend doesn't drive, she was there with her young son; she did ask for some help, but unfortunately she found none.

Eventually, she had to walk away and take a bus home, with a broken heart.

She is still very upset about it all, because as an animal lover she feels she could have done something.

We all know that these volunteers cannot do everything alone, that's why we need something better. My friend would very much like to know, after all the information she had given to the man, if the dog has perhaps been found and taken care of. That would indeed make her smile.
