HSBC Bank Malta yesterday continued to celebrate its fifth anniversary in Malta with a Lm10,000 donation to the Malta Community Chest Fund.
The donation was presented by HSBC chairman Albert Mizzi to President Eddie Fenech Adami, during the latter's visit to HSBC's head office in Valletta.
On Wednesday, the bank, also marking its anniversary, donated Lm50,000 to the HSBC Cares for Children Fund.
"In the five years since HSBC arrived in Malta, the bank has become an integral part of the Maltese community. It has not only had an important economic role but has also been very active in both the educational, environmental and artistic spheres," Mr Mizzi said at the presentation ceremony.
Dr Fenech Adami said the past two days had clearly shown how committed HSBC was to Malta and to the Maltese community, expressing his pleasure that the bank had placed corporate social responsibility high on its agenda. The President visited the National Museum of Fine Arts to view the Malta Turner, an important painting by the renowned British water colourist loaned to the museum on a permanent basis by HSBC Bank Malta in March 2003.
