I refer to the letter Forgotten Veterans by Joseph Galea (July 12) and perhaps I can clarify a misunderstanding that Mr Galea may have gained from the article published in The Times on July 5.

The Battle For Malta reunion will commemorate and celebrate the 60th anniversary of Victory in Europe and the end of World War II. It is open to Royal Air Force, Allied and Fleet Air Arm aircrew, ground crew and support staff plus members of RAF, Royal Navy, British Army, Merchant Navy and Commonwealth and Allied units who served on or who supported the Fortress Island during WWII and veterans from the Maltese Air defence ground regiments (The Kings' Own Malta Regiment and the Royal Malta Artillery).

I welcome Mr Galea, as an ex serving member of the Royal Air Force and a veteran in his own right, and any of his colleagues who were similarly involved, with open arms if they wish to join in the 2005 reunion programme.

As an aside, any Maltese citizen, without exception, is also welcome to attend the three major reunion public events (the St Paul's Pro-Cathedral service, the wreath laying ceremony at the War Memorial and the Malta International Air Show), details of which will be published closer to the date.
