A Libyan man was yesterday given a one-year jail term suspended for two years after he admitted to assaulting police, drug possession and theft.

Mohammed Amar Salem, 29, pleaded guilty to threatening and assaulting PC Reuben Pace, PC Nigel Apap and PC Brendon Borg and breaching the peace on July 1.

He also admitted to the possession of heroin and stealing a mobile phone worth over Lm100.

Inspector Josric Mifsud prosecuted while Dr Leo Bencini represented Salem.
