A two-year part-time diploma course providing a grounding of baroque European architecture in all its major dimensions and providing insights into the conservation of baroque architecture is being organised by the university's International Institute for Baroque Studies in conjunction with the Works Division.
The course will start in October and subjects include architecture, sculpture, painting, cities, fortifications, gardens, music and theatre, the role of the classical orders, composition and properties of building materials, and the stereotomy of baroque buildings and their conservation.
Candidates will be expected to attend theoretical and practical sessions at the University of Malta, undergo a field experience, and present a long essay or project.
A limited number of places are being offered by the Works Division. Participants will be required to attend theoretical and practical sessions at the university during office hours.
Applications will be received by the University of Malta. A one-time Lm50 registration fee will apply for applicants not employed with the Works Division.
