The Malta Federation of Industry (FOI) has congratulated Dr Austin Gatt on his appointment as Minister for Investment, Industry and Information Technology.

The FOI has been stressing the importance of having a senior Cabinet minister directly responsible for manufacturing industry and related services.

Through Dr Gatt's appointment, the federation believes Government is sending a clear message that it considers industry of major importance to the Maltese economy, especially in generating employment in this sector.

The FOI looks forward to the continued collaboration and co-operation with his ministry.
