Fiat have named their latest contribution to the motoring world with a four-letter word, IDEA which, as seen as an acronym, could stand for Intelligence, Design, Emotion and Architecture.

Launched by UCIM Co marketing manager Ryan Buttigieg at the Westin Dragonara last week, "the stylish new model is a superlative automotive example of technological progress at the service of mankind".

Addressing those present, who included Ucim Co managing director Francesca Mamo, Mr Buttigieg gave an overview of what this latest MPV from the Italian car manufacturer has to offer, stressing the four words of the acronym.

"The Fiat Idea will completely alter your understanding of compact Multi-Purpose Vehicles," Mr Buttigieg said. The MPV segment is one that Fiat wants to shine in, and this is why they have created a car "for young families who are always on the go, a faithful companion in town traffic on working days and an oasis of relaxation and calm on the weekend", Mr Buttigieg said.

It is aimed at customers with different needs, tastes and lifestyles, yet it is good-looking and comfortable.

Sales manager Jonathan Said looked at the car in more detail and spoke about the car's design, comfort, adaptability and safety. Engines include the 1.4 16-valve MPI with 85 bhp and the 1.3 M Jet second-generation common rail with 70 bhp.

Standard features include power steering, central locking, electric windows, driver and passenger airbags, tinted glass, rear wiper, height adjustable steering and seat, rear seat sliding and split 60:40, air-conditioning, ABS and roof rails.

Prices for the 1.4 16V petrol version start from Lm8,250 and Lm8,750 for the 1.3 Multijet diesel.
