So here we have it again. Another reason why one tends to lose confidence in officialdom.
Much has been said about the illegal satellite reception tax, however no effective whistleblower has come forward. Instead, the Ministry for Competitiveness and Communications chooses to fight a lost case which at the end of the day is costing the taxpayer precious money. I shall not delve too much into the obvious, the authorities know that this tax is illegal!
Some extracts from the MIC website: "This licence fee therefore appears to be in conflict with EU rules" and "Clearly, banning the use of dishes would be illegal not just under EU rules but even on simple human rights grounds (freedom of expression) as has also been established by the European Court of Human Rights".
Not only shall I not pay the Lm25 due in a month but I expect the ministry to refund me and countless others for the amount paid from May onwards pro-rata. Boasting about new EU laws is one thing but respecting them is totally another.
One final word to the elected MEPs: What exactly is keeping you from performing your duties you once said you were bound to fulfill?
