Police nab suspected robbers

The police yesterday arrested two persons on suspicion of having been involved in a hold-up on an elderly man in Qawra in the morning.

The man, 71, of St Paul's Bay, was slightly injured in a struggle, the police said.

He was stopped in his car by an armed and hooded person who emerged from a parked car in Triq in-Nakkri.

The elderly man had just deposited some money in the bank, the police said, adding that a pouch was stolen but giving no details on what it contained.

Two people were later intercepted by the police and will be arraigned soon.

The Criminal Investigation Department is heading the investigation.
