As part of the promotion of the Malta Jazz Festival, jazz musicians from the Johann Strauss Big Band are taking to the streets of Valletta tomorrow to delight passers-by with their music. They will be performing selections from their repertoire and arrangements that blend traditional and modern sounds.

The Jazz Festival's organiser, the Malta Council for Culture and the Arts, is presenting a sample of traditional jazz music tomorrow from 10.30 to 11.15 a.m. in Republic Street close to Café Cordina.

"Designed to promote the Malta Jazz Festival, the street jazz session also provides space to Maltese musicians to display their talent to the public," said Robert Cefai, event co-ordinator from the council. The festival takes place at Ta' Liesse in Valletta at the waterfron in Grand Harbour at the weekend, featuring one of the most exciting line-ups since it was held the first time in 1990.

Tickets can be purchased from The Malta Council for Culture and the Arts, tel. 2124 5168, and Vodafone retail outlets as well as from Exotique Complex (Sliema), D'Amato (Sliema and Valletta), Knight Music (Hamrun), Ta' Geraldu Kiosk and the Manoel Theatre Shop (Valletta), and Memories (Bugibba). Tickets can also be obtained from Ta' Liesse, prior to the performances.

The event kicks off at 8 p.m. each day.
