One of the most important sailing events on the local calendar is the Malta-Syracuse Offshore Race. It has been organised by the Royal Malta Yacht Club in conjunction with Lega Navale Italiana (Sezione di Siracusa) for many a decade.

This year, this popular offshore race will once again attract a substantial number of entries from Sicily which are expected to arrive here this week, in time to start the race with the usual numerous local boats from Marsamxett Harbour on Saturday.

Once again this event has the sponsorship backing of Dragonara Casino (Accord Group).
