30 more arrive

Another group, this time of 30 illegal immigrants, was picked up and brought ashore by the Armed Forces of Malta in the early hours of yesterday.

The AFM Operations Centre was informed that a boat with migrants on board had been sighted drifting approximately 28 nautical miles south-east of Delimara.

A search mission involving AFM sea and aircraft was co-ordinated and the immigrants were taken on board the AFM boats P 24 and Melita 2 and brought ashore at the AFM Maritime Squadron base at Haywharf in Floriana.

The group consists of 26 men and four women all from Somalia.

The Immigration Police are investigating.
