Positive outlook

The international rating agency Fitch said Malta's sovereign rating retained its positive outlook. The rating was more likely than not to be upgraded in the next two years, Fitch said.

Reference to Malta was made in a report in which Fitch upgraded the long term foreign currency ratings of Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Slovenia.

The report says Fitch was maintaining a positive outlook on the LTFC ratings of Cyprus as well as Malta, which is expected to adopt the euro in 2008.
