The volume of retail trade in the eurozone in May this year compared to the same month last year fell by 0.9 per cent but rose by 1.6 per cent in the EU25, according to the first estimates by Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Communities.

Compared to April 2003, the retail sales index decreased by 1.3 per cent in the eurozone and by 0.4 per cent in the EU25.
