For this year's Prize Day at the Guzè Damato Secondary School, Paola, recently, the Drama Group directed by Mr Nazzareno Camilleri presented a 'collage' of three fables by Aesop: the Father and his Three Children; the Cat and the Mouse; and the Men and the Golden Egg.

The idea behind this theatrical work was John Suda, who also adapted the script for the students.

The audience, made up of students, parents, teachers and Education Division officials, appreciated the good performance of young actors, who played the parts of different animals in the three simple, concise and straightforward fables.

As is the case with other fables by Aesop, all carried a message. The first fable stresses the jealousy that arises among children, and the other two remind us that the weak never overcome the mighty and that man is never satisfied with what he possesses.

Luke Zerafa was the father, Luke Pace and Kevin Portelli were the children, and Clayton Schembri, Warren Zerafa and Carlos Abela played the part of the Mice. Laurence Damato was the Cat.

The highlight was the prize-giving ceremony during which the school head Anthony Demicoli spoke about the school's achievements during the previous academic year. Assistant director Vanni Galea distributed the prizes.
