Police seize more drugs in two raids

Cannabis resin, ecstasy pills and heroin were seized by the police in raids by the drugs squad in Tarxien and Zejtun yesterday and on Friday night.

A 21-year-old man from Zejtun was held in yesterday's raid. The police said he was found in possession of seven pieces of cannabis resin that had been prepared for sale.

About 400 grams of cannabis resin, 41 ecstasy tablets and a small quantity of heroin were found in a Tarxien residence occupied by a 24-year-old man. The man was arrested together with a 19-year-old from Santa Lucija. They are expected to be arraigned later this week.

Police Superintendent Neil Harrison is investigating.

The finds followed the discovery on Friday of 285 cannabis plants in Zejtun, over which two men from Zejtun have been charged. Both men, who had drug-related cases in the early 1980s, were granted bail by Magistrate Dennis Montebello.
