There is, in an indirect way, a Maltese touch in the Euro 2004 football championship currently in progress in Portugal, thanks to the hospitality being offered by the Corinthia Group to participating football teams.

In fact, the Corinthia Alfa Hotel, owned by International Hotel Investments plc, which forms part of the Corinthia Group, hosted the German national squad until its departure and now it has the French team as its guests.

Another illustrious resident of the Corinthia Alfa, which is located in Lisbon, is Luis Figo, the captain of Portugal.
