Concerning the flea infestation in the postal centre, don't blame the cats, blame the mice and rats. All winter the mice have been playing in the postal centre and their fleas have been laying thousands of eggs. The eggs hatched into the larvae stage and have been waiting for the right conditions to hatch out into hungry fleas that will attack the first warm blooded animal that comes along, and this time it was a human.

When the temperature and humidity are both over 70 degrees Fahrenheit (22 degrees Celcius) and 70 per cent humidity, the larvae all hatch out at the same time and there is the answer to the question: Where did all these fleas come from?

To prevent this next year, the floor can be vacuumed and diatonaceous earth powder, which is a natural substance, can be sprinkled on the floor to kill the fleas and larvae.
