Valletta FC's woes seem to know no end.

After a poor showing on the field of play, with the team missing out on any of the domestic honours, more uncertainty is looming for the club as yesterday it was announced that the 10 members of the outgoing committee will boycott the election in tomorrow morning's annual general meeting at the St Augustine Hall.

At Thursday evening's deadline, there were only five new nominations to contest the election for a new committee. However, none of these bore the name of the high-profile persons touted as likely candidates at the end of the season.

Joe Caruana Curran, the former Valletta FC president who resigned last summer after 18 years at the helm, along with some former players and established businessmen, were rumoured to have been interested in standing for election to the committee but they have not submitted their nomination.

According to the club's statute, tomorrow's meeting will be held as planned but an extension of a few days will be proposed to give more time for potential candidates to put forward their nomination.
