Bank officials assess trade with Libya, Tunisia

The chairman of Bank of Valletta, Joseph F.X. Zahra, together with Tony Camilleri, chief officer, financial markets division, visited the bank's representative offices in Libya and Tunisia.
Meetings were held with the chairmen of a number of commercial banks both in Tripoli and Tunis as well as with officials from the Central Bank of Tunisia led by the deputy governor of the Central Bank of Tunisia, Bayoudh Laroussi.
The level of trade between Malta on the one hand and Tunisia and Libya on the other featured as one of the principal issues that is seen helping to further develop the existing good bilateral relationships.
Mr Zahra and Mr Camilleri discussed the operations of the representative offices with BOV's resident managers and, specifically, the logistical support which the representative offices have been extending to Maltese entrepreneurs operating in the two North African countries over the past years.
Mr Zahra said that BOV was closely monitoring developments in the Euro-Med region in the light of recent interesting developments in this area and the opening up of the respective economies.
