The Malta Labour Party yesterday asked the Broadcasting Authority to examine a programme broadcast on Net Television last week.

In a letter to the Broadcasting Authority's chief executive officer Kevin Aquilina, MLP secretary general Jason Micallef complained about footage of the MLP mass meeting shown in the evening of June 10, which had supposedly been screened on Super One TV a few hours earlier.

Mr Micallef said presenter Pierre Portelli invited viewers to watch part of what happened during the MLP mass meeting as it was broadcast by the party's television station.

Mr Micallef said that while the footage was being shown on Net TV, the captions "Next Monday we will take to the streets" and "A Labour majority" were seen on the screen. Mr Micallef said these captions were shown in a way that gave the impression to Net TV viewers that they were an integral part of the Super One TV film.

The MLP, he said, categorically denied that the captions were broadcast on Super One TV. He asked Dr Aquilina to proceed according to the law.
