David Borg and Keith Frendo were yesterday conditionally discharged for 18 months by a court after they pleaded guilty to theft.

The two were charged with stealing a mobile phone and a purse containing money from Josephine Cachia and with slightly injuring her. Borg alone was charged with relapsing.

The court considered that they both pleaded guilty, they cooperated with the police and the stolen goods were returned to their owner.

The court said the accused should be given another chance to put themselves on the right track by giving them a conditional discharge.

Inspector Marthese Micallef prosecuted.
