F.O.I. President Anton Borg, accompanied by Malta Business Bureau director Leonard Mizzi, were in Dublin last Friday for this year's first Council of Presidents meeting of the Union of Industrial and Employers' Confederations of Europe (UNICE), of which the FOI is an active member.

At this meeting the presidents of the UNICE members discussed the current economic situation, the EU Climate change policy, as well as the UNICE's position on the EU competition policy presented by Peter Plompen, chairman of the Company Affairs Committee.

The UNICE Council of Presidents also had to decide on the UNICE Memorandum to the new European institutions, as well as the draft agreement with ETUC focusing on work-related stress. Among the other items of the meeting's agenda, the presidents were also briefed on the state of play on the Intergovernmental Conference.
