Various suggestions have been made as to how to fill the empty niches on the façade of St John's Co-Cathedral.
Mr John Camilleri Brennan, writing in The Sunday Times a couple of months ago, suggested that the statues of St John and of Blessed Gerard be placed there.
Mr Lorenzo Zahra suggested the statues of St John and St Lawrence because the Birgu church dedicated to the latter saint was the first Conventual church in Malta.
My suggestion is to have statues of St John and St Paul.
The reason is that during the French occupation, and precisely on August 30, 1798, St John's became "con-titular" with the Mdina Cathedral, dedicated to St Paul.
