Mount Carmel Hospital service

Allow me to convey a simple message to Marisa Micallef Leyson regarding her article "Housing and community care" (The Sunday Times, May 30).

If Ms Micallef Leyson would like to know what is being done for the better welfare and care for people making use of the facilities within Mount Carmel Hospital, she is more than welcome to call the hospital, asking for the appropriate people, who will find time and show her the work being done. For Mount Carmel Hospital, care in the community is an important objective.

Mount Carmel Hospital operates various schemes to help people who, would have experienced some form of mental illness, integrate better within their own community as quickly as possible.

We will have no problem in showing all this to Ms Micallef Leyson, who hopefully will change her opinion on the hospital and the work being done.

This should help her find some space in future articles to give a better impression to the public and thank the very dedicated staff of the hospital for the service they offer to all those who need it.
