¤ A symposium with the theme "With Our Lady we are living members of Christ's Church" to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the painting of the Coronation of the Immaculate Conception and the 100th anniversary of the consecration of Qala parish church, is being held from Wednesday to July 20. The speakers include Bishop Nikol Cauchi, Fr William Axiaq, OFM Cap., Fr Marcello Ghirlando, OFM, Fr Fabio Attard, SDB, Fr Gerald Buhagiar and the archbishop of Catania, Sicily, Mgr Luigi Bommarito.

¤ A musico-literary evening is being held on Thursday at 9 p.m. to mark the 75th anniversary of the foundation of the Precursor Band at St Catherine Street Xewkija, The President, Dr Eddie Fenech Adami will be unveiling a commemorative marble plaque at the band club, which will then be blessed by Bishop Cauchi. Charles Arrigo will compere the event.

¤ A half-day information seminar "How can SMEs benefit from the Euro Info Centre? What are the new Support Schemes for the enterprise?", is being held at the Malta Enterprise Gozo office in Xewkija on Friday at 2.30 p.m. The seminar is targeted at entrepreneurs in the manufacturing and services industries, exporters, importers, traders, business start-ups, students and all those interested in doing business with the European Union and beyond. ¤ An exhibition of art and crafts, featuring works by students attending the Gozo School of Art, is being inaugurated by Minister Giovanna Debono at the exhibition hall on St Francis Square, Victora, on Friday at 8 p.m. The exhibition will be open from 8 a.m. to noon during the week till July 2.

¤ A barbecue, in aid of the Xaghra feast decoration group, is being held at Xaghra Youth Centre on Friday at 8 p.m. Tickets may be obtained from the centre.

¤ The Gharb parish centre is holding the 16th Summer Evening in front of the parish church, on Friday from 8.15 p.m. onwards. Special guests include singer Deborah Sacco, the duo Alison and Annalise, magician Noel d'Amato and The Joy Boys. there will also be food and drink as well as lotteries and spot prizes.

¤ An evening of Maltese folk music with popular guitarists is being held for Father's Day on St John the Baptist Square, Xewkija, on Friday at 8.30 p.m.

¤ A musical programme for youths, featuring various singers and groups as well as a Peruvian Band, is being held by the parish centre, in collaboration with the local council on April 28 Square, Nadur, on Friday at 9 p.m.

¤ A sunset cruise to Comino, on board the Gozo Princess, is being organised by the Gozo SPCA on Saturday. The group leaves Mgarr at 7 and returns at 11.55 p.m. An excellent buffet with half a carafe of wine will be served during the evening. ¤ Nadur council will be inaugurating the Agrigarian Exhibition on Archpriest Martin Camilleri Square, on Saturday at 9 p.m. Folk singers, the Mnarja Folk Group and Annette's Mystic Dancers will also be participating.

¤ The feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is being celebrated at Fontana this week.

The translation of the relic of the Holy Cross from the church of Our Lady of Pompeii to Fontana parish church, will be led by Fr Marcell Portelli, MSSP on Saturday at 6.15 p.m. The La Stella Band will also be participating.

The University Holloway Choir, directed by Dr Lionel Pike will be holding a concert at 8.45.

The Ite ad Joseph Band and the La Stella Band will play marches at 9.30 p.m., followed by a fireworks display.

¤ The second Parish Assembly for the Centenary Year 2004 for youths is being organised by archpriest Karm Refalo and Qala parish council at Mount St Joseph, Mosta, on Sunday. The group will leave with the 9 a.m. ferry and will return to Gozo at 9.15 p.m. Tickets and more information may be obtained from the parish office.
