Last Sunday, the quarter-finals of the Knock Out competition were played at the University Sports Complex.

The two semi-finals, All Ages Eurochange vs Kerygma A and Ta' Xbiex ASC Wolverines vs Fuego Champs, will be played at the same venue on June 27.

HSBC 23
All Ages Eurochange 34

The first two quarters of the game were dominated by All Ages Eurochange who built a commanding 20-5 lead.

The remaining two sessions were more balanced with HSBC, who were without a number of regular players, winning both of them, 8-7 and 10-7.

Notwithstanding their brave performance, HSBC's reaction came too late to trouble All Ages who had already gained a comfortable cushion.

Umpires: R. Abdilla, J. Mangani.

Ta' Xbiex ASC Wolverines 38
Kerygma B 5

As the score amply indicates, this was a one-sided game with Division Two champions Ta' Xbiex streets ahead of their opponents.

After completing their league campaign unbeaten, qualification to the KO semi-finals represents another significant step for Ta' Xbiex.

In the last four, they face Division One champions Fuego in what promises to be an interesting match. Missing some key players, Kerygma offered their best resistance but Ta' Xbiex were too strong.

Umpires: O. Camilleri, M. Farrugia.

New Ages 21
Kerygma A 36

Kerygma won all the four quarters starting off with a good lead, 11-4 before winning the next three periods, 8-5, 8-5 and 9-7.

Although Kerygma played a fast and well-coordinated game, one expected their scoring tally to be higher considering their 85 attempts compared with New Ages' 43.

Umpires: O. Camilleri, M. Bartolo.

Mellieha 10
Fuego Champs 44

Malta champions Fuego Champs met Mellieha who finished at the bottom of the second division.

The huge gulf in class between the two teams produced another one-way affair with Fuego easily cruising to the semi-finals.

However, praise should also be given to Mellieha who despite facing tough opposition throughout the season, always did their best to put up a good challenge.
