FIFA president Blatter congratulates Sliema

FIFA president Sepp Blatter has written to Robert Arrigo, the Sliema Wanderers president, to congratulate him on his club's league and cup double.

"It is with great pleasure that today I send my congratulations to you on your club's successes, by completing your first Premier League and Maltese trophy double since 1964-65," Blatter wrote in his letter.

"It was a thrilling finish to an intriguing season that kept Maltese football fans on the edge of their seats until the final whistle."

Blatter also singled out for praise the club's head coach Edward Aquilina, technical and medical staff and the team fans, pointing out that "each part of this organisation have no doubt been instrumental in the club's success".

A copy of Blatter's letter has also been forwarded to Joe Mifsud, president of the Malta FA.
