The church of St Peter and St Paul in Nadur is holding activities to mark the bicentenary of its blessing.

The celebrations include a performance of the play Ir-rebha ta' l-Appostli Pietru u Pawlu, written by Mgr Nikol Cauchi, Bishop of Gozo, with music by Mgr Martin Portelli, which will be performed on June 22 at 9 p.m. Other events include a rock mass on June 18 and an agricultural show on June 19.

Richard Mercieca, Gozo area manager for HSBC, main sponsor of the activities, who presented the sponsorship to Archpriest Salv Muscat from the church of St Peter and St Paul, said: "This bicentenary is a very important event both for the people of Nadur and for Gozo. HSBC believes in actively supporting such cultural activities that will help the whole community to celebrate this milestone".

Throughout the bicentenary activities various musical and literary events will be held inside the church of St Peter and St Paul in Nadur and will include the participation of a number of scholars.

"Thanks to HSBC's support, we will be able to provide the Nadur community with a full programme of activities to celebrate this important anniversary. We will be able to record the performance of Ir-rebha ta' l-Appostli Pietru u Pawlu on CD, for the enjoyment of everyone connected with Nadur, wherever they may be," the archpriest said.
