Nature Trust (Malta) has congratulated the Minister for Rural Affairs and Environment, George Pullicino, for the relaunch of Xummiemu, the environmental character loved by children.

"Through such an incentive, children can become proactive in environment protection and appreciation," the society said.

It also welcomed the fact that Xummiemu would be joining the EkoSkola programme and would be going round to visit EkoSkola schools in Malta and Gozo.

EkoSkola is a project featuring the Green Flag award (an environmental certificate recognised internationally) co-ordinated by FEE (Federation for Environmental Education, a European-wide NGO) of which Nature Trust is the Maltese representative.
