Sponsoring of benches

One thing that strikes me when visiting recreational parks in the UK is the use of name plates, affixed to benches, bearing the inscription of a particular bench sponsor.

I am fascinated to observe that these sponsors are mostly writers, artists, public figures and the like. This often makes me curious to discover what the other benches' inscriptions have to offer.

We could adopt this to our countryside by encouraging similar sponsors, and not wait ages for the local council to finance such benches. These inscribed name plates would also promote our growing culture.

The Mtarfa heights facing Mdina would be one ideal location for such a project. The Mtarfa council should consider this possibility and at least construct walkways which would also attract tourists to enjoy the panoramic views of Mdina.
