Final preparations for the Valletta International Wine Fair at Pinto Wharf.

Over the past few days, the historical Pinto Wharf vaults at Valletta Waterfront have been the scene for the final preparations for the first edition of the Valletta International Wine Fair which opens today.

The list of world-renowned wine estates to be represented is impressive. They hail from France, Italy and Sicily, Spain, Portugal, the United States, Chile, Argentina and Australia. Well over 100 wine brands will be on display and for sale.

Participants include M. Demajo, Wands, Simonds Farsons Cisk, PJ Sutters, N.M. Arrigo, Cleland & Souchet, Power Imports, Mirachem, Dullard Cellars and Bicanter.

With its magnificent views of the Grand Harbour, this is the first of a series of cultural and entertainment events through which Valletta Waterfront is trying to bring this area of the capital city back to life.

Another objective of this weekend event is to foster a wider wine culture among Maltese wine lovers, those involved in the catering trade, and the public.

Ample and easy parking facilities have been allocated in the area.

The fair is open from 7.30 p.m. to 11.30 p.m. today and tomorrow and from 10.30 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. on Sunday and Monday. Entrance is free. Wine will not be served to people under 18.
