The Faculty of Education has just published the latest edition of The Journal of Maltese Education Research, an online publication.

George Camilleri writes about the influence of Maltese on the way students write English and Frank Bezzina looks at pupils' difficulties in understanding probability and statistics. Jacqueline Rotin deals with changing teaching practice in dealing with the Sec examination course work through action research.

The scope of the journal is not limited to schooling. Translating the avant-garde into Esperanto, by Raphael Vella, deals with issues of contemporary art and public education; and Flexible learning: The complementary dimension in future education, by Philip Bonanno, proposes a 'flexible learning' pedagogy using ICT.

The journal is at www.educ.um.edu.mt/jmer . Registration is required.
