Late comeback sees All Ages through

The Challenge Trophy is a Malta Netball Association one-day competition with national league teams playing on a knock-out basis.

On Sunday, All Ages Eurochange won the Challenge Trophy after beating league champions Fuego Champs 23-16 in the final.

Eight teams took part in the Challenge Trophy. All Ages made it to the final after eliminating HSBC and Kerygma B. Fuego ousted Kerygma A and Ta' Xbiex ASC Wolverines.

The All Ages-Fuego contest was identical to the last game of the league, characterised by tactical play, tension and low scores. At the end of the third quarter, Fuego led 14-11.

However, the final quarter saw a determined All Ages comeback. The team showed an improvement in their marking as well as their shooting. They scored 12 times compared to Fuego's two.

In the closing minutes, All Ages adopted a perfect possession game which made things even more difficult for Fuego to get back into the game, umpired by Rose Abdilla and Caroline Dingli.
