One of Malta's leading contemporary artists, Eric Gerada, is holding an exhibition of paintings in oils and watercolours depicting landscapes of Malta and Stockholm.
Proceeds from the exhibition, which includes floral, still life and abstract paintings, are in aid of Din l-Art Helwa. It is being held at Din l-Art Helwa, 133, Melita Street, Valletta.
Mr Gerada has been painting all his life. Largely self-taught, he received basic education under distinguished Maltese sculptor and painter Vincent Apap. He now spends his time between London and Malta, keeping up his lifelong love for drawing and painting, particularly landscapes.
Mr Gerada joined the diplomatic service in 1966 after a brief military spell in the Royal Malta Artillery. From 1999 to 2002 he was ambassador of Malta to Sweden and concurrently non-resident ambassador to Denmark, Norway, Finland and the Baltic States.
The exhibition is being opened by President Eddie Fenech Adami this evening and is open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. daily from tomorrow to June 9.
